Ski Beatz continues to awe me with his innovative approach to creating music.
I would be lying if I said that this is the first time I have seen someone trigger samples in an onstage performance. For example, the MPC has been a tool for performers like Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, and the Roots. Outside of the MPC, multiple pad sample-triggers have been a DJ accessory for many years.
What makes this performance unique is that Ski Beatz is the band leader, which makes his sampler the primary instrument in the performance.
I think it will be a fun when producers become more then studio bodies launch tours. One day you may see your favorite producer traveling around the country with nothing but a drum machine and a band.
