Ideas in Life DesignIdeas in Life Design After my last meeting with Jason, the product manager from a web analytics company, I felt a bit rudderless. Going into the meeting I thought that I had nailed down my desired job title which gave me a sense of direction in my job pursuit. However the more he talked about product management (specifically in the context of software) the less appealing it became. This...

What Product Management Really Means and How Clueless I WasWhat Product Management Really Means and How Clueless... Last Saturday I grabbed some coffee with Jason Evanish (@evanish) a bright, dare i say wise, product manager from KISSmetrics (think of a supercharged version of google analytics giving you better information about user experience). Jason Shen, who is also a superstart but I have yet to meet, hooked the meeting up after learning about my interest in product management. Some...

Following a Dream and Moving to San FranciscoFollowing a Dream and Moving to San Francisco   My Seattle to San Francisco trip created via paper   I don't normally get too personal on my blog. But moving to a new city to pursue your dreams merits a little reflection. I am here. I am living in San Francisco. The decision to move and my arrival into the city happened in one week. There is a good chance that if I had given it any more time...

Important Art Can Change Your Worldview

Category : Great Design

I wanted to share with you this important and compellling art/design that comes from the Chinese Designer Daizi Zheng.

blueberry capsules Daizi-Zheng

In the collection entitled Stereotypes, he takes what is pure and natural and repackages it to look like drugs and fast food.

Carrot Cigarets Daizi-Zheng

The work includes carrot stick cigarettes, celery stock french fries, and blueberry capsules.

Celery French Fries Daizi-Zheng

The point of his work is to draw on peoples psychological connections to the packaging to encourage positive eating habits.

Nutrition Facts Daizi Zheng

Does this change the way you look at these food items/household items? Can you think of any other food/packaging splices that would have been good?

Click to Play

Today will be the first of a weekly tradition I will call Brand Old Sample Tuesday.

On a weekly basis I bless you with a classic cut that has been sampled. More likely you will recognize the remake but be unfamiliar with the original source material.

It is your job to tell me the name of the original song and who performed it. If your the first person to respond correctly I will give you a shout out on the following Tuesday. Check back next week when I will reveal the name and artist and the song.

If you know who performed this weeks sample email me at uachima@gmail.com.

The name of last weeks sample was “I Like It” performed by Debarge. Different artists have picked from it but you might remember Warren G’s “I Want it All” or maybe Grand Puba’s “I Like It.”

Dark Time Sunshine – Doom / Go Team / Wrong Kids VIDEO

Category : Music Videos, NW Music

I just got hipped to this video via a Macklemore tweet.

I wish you could say that I had some inside knowledge of the artists. The truth is, I really love this video but know nothing about the group or how they were formed. I suspect they are a Seattle group because they have so many Seattle artists in the video, however they shout out “The Windy City” so much I have questions.

If you know who this group is or their background, please fill us in here at Oodles.

Has the Freshman Class changed your perspective on Hip Hop?

Category : Uncategorized

“Its just like any other area of life. when your from a removed generation there are just some things that you wont understand.” -Nero.

I like the perspective that Nero shares about the Freshaman class of artists and the generation gap that exists between them and “older generation rappers.” Me and a friend were just discussing last night how Hip Hop has not been in as healthy a state in 8-10 years. Self expression is back.

What do you think of the current ”freshman” class? Does Nero have a point? Do you even like the term Freshman class.

Inside The Session with Kirby Krackle from GMK on Vimeo.

This video comes from the homie GMK. He films himself while in a studio session with a Seattle group called Kirby Krackle. I have known GMK for quite a while now music has always been central to his life. If  you meet him it doesn’t take long to realize that it is his number 1 passion.

Thats why it makes me so happy to see all of the opportunities that are coming his way. He has really earned it. GMK is a inspiration to other aspiring artists showing them what one can become if they keep working at it. You can follow him on his Blog GMK Brilliant Reality.
