What’s Udoka Up To?

Recently I checked the visitor stats for my site. I was presently surprised to find out that even without any updates people still come to the site to see what is new. I appreciate that commitment, but I feel bad to disappoint those of who you leave empty handed.

Posts have been few and far between lately. I am aware I have been neglecting my online duties. But I haven’t been playing favorite in this, my friends, family and coworkers don’t see me as often as they used to.

You don’t need to hear any of my excuses and they probably mean nothing to you but I promise that I have been staying busy. Not on anything blog related or even music related for that matter. But the efforts have deviated onto bigger and badder things.

The entrepreneurial spirit has taken me over and soon I will be bringing something new to the world.

I have to leave it at that for now and skimp the details. Trust that every impulse inside of me wants to share it with you however that would make for bad business because the patent is not finalized. I have said to much.

Soon

As bonus: check out the very Jewish Michael Rapport speak about his upcoming A Tribe Called Quest documentary titled “Beat Rhymes and Life.”

A decade ago, my friends threw me a bachelorette party at The Park. As luck would have it, we were seated two tables away from Q-Tip, at the time my absolute favorite rapper. (Yes, he’s since been replaced. Two words in my defense: Vivrant Thing.) But Q-Tip was also part of a cohort of late 1990s hip-hop stars converting to, and singing about, Islam—a trend that fed into fears of rising black anti-Semitism that, every now and again, sent certain Jewish organizations into apoplectic fits of worry. Brand Old Sample

Apologies people. I did not have the time to do a proper Brand Old Sample Tuesday today. So instead I am passing along to you a list of the best 50 hip hop samples of all time by Complex.com. I guess if hip hop has been sampling other people for 30 years+ whats wrong with recycling some good blog material : ) Continue Reading

David Pogue, author and editor at the New York Times, stresses in his presentation that “simplicity sells.”

Antoine de Saint-Exupéry said: “Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away. I know this is true in music. Continue Reading
